Loving God, At the dawning of a summer day, may Your love reawaken in me the desire to humbly seek You. In midday, with the sun overhead, may I be reminded that You sent Your Son to be light for all the world. As the sun sets in awesome majesty, may the sky’s spectacular hues fill my heart with gratitude. When dusk turns once again to night, may I be comforted that You give blessings as countless as the stars. Amen.
August 9, 2023: You Are Not Alone
Lord Jesus, Today, there will surely be things that I don’t understand: Why weather turns for the worse when a gentle breeze would do; Why people turn to violence when hearts are meant for love; Why comfort hasn’t come when suffering seems too hard to bear; and Why loneliness abides when company would find welcome. For all now facing a hard day and anyone not feeling very blessed today, Lord, I pray that you will make Your love more obvious, knowing that You understand. Amen.

Lord Jesus, You know from within my heart The loved ones whom I miss the most. It’s not that they were perfect, But their style of loving was perfectly fine. In Your compassion, please help me To share their love, which is still a part of me. It’s not that every minute together was noteworthy, Yet there are times that I wish we could have had Even just one more ordinary, everyday moment together. In Your eternal care, please help me Not to miss today’s opportunities to be a blessing For people around me, who may be missing someone, too.
