8/22/19: In Challenging Times
Lord Jesus, When I come to You in prayer, Pleading because the time seems long, Please be with me for the distance, And help me bear the pace. When I am burdened or suffering And need to lean on You, If not strength, then in my weakness, Give me humility and grace. When I fail to understand Obstacles appearing in my way, Help me not to miss the markers Leading to a better place. When I feel weary from trying, Becoming discouraged or afraid, Inspire me, guide me, and hold me In Your loving embrace. Amen.

Lord Jesus, There is much in this world beyond what I can remedy, And so I come to You in prayer: For peace where there is war And for peacemakers; For the hungry and homeless And those who provide what they can; For the abandoned and abused And for unsung heroes; For the dehumanized and demoralized And for the gentlehearted who bring hope. Lord Jesus, I offer to You this simple prayer: Through the sacrifices I make, Whether chosen or thrust upon me, And through Your grace to be awake To blessings of Your love and mercy. Amen.

Jesus, my Savior, I come to You today, To ask for Your blessing in prayer. Through the love You give to me, Please make me more loving and aware. For people around me, May I be a sign You are near. Should I meet with sorrow, Let me be Your hand to dry a tear. You are always with me, My hope when others might despair. May the faith you give to me Be a gift that I gratefully share. Amen.

Loving Lord Jesus, I pray for victims of every kind, For hope in You, who were victimized, too. For those hurt by violence, I pray for healing and peace. For those used as objects of desire or greed, I pray for freedom and dignity. For those whose livelihood has been lost, I pray for new opportunities to work. For the forgotten and neglected, I pray for recognition and love. Amen.

In midday, with the sun overhead, may I be reminded that You sent Your Son to be light for all the world. As the sun sets in awesome majesty, may the sky’s spectacular hues fill my heart with gratitude. When dusk turns once again to night, may I be comforted that You give blessings as countless as the stars. Amen.

For all who are facing a hard day, I pray for the strength they need. For all who are lonely or afraid, I join my prayer with theirs. For anyone not feeling very blessed today, I ask the Lord to be more obvious. And when I am among the disheartened, I pray to find hope as one in the Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus, Risen Savior, When I feel burdened, May I envision You on the Cross And look up to You. When I make decisions, large and small, May what I do be pleasing in Your sight As I seek to follow You. When I could say something hurtful, May I recall Your glorious Ascension And rise above. Amen.
